What Is the Implication of TikTok and Shopify Partnership

Tiktok announces a global partnership with a Canadian eCommerce platform – Shopify. TikTok says the new TikTok channel for Shopify merchants is available from Oct.27th 2020 in the U.S. It will roll out to other markets next year, including elsewhere in North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

On-spotlight short-form video app TikTok is also becoming a social commerce marketplace for buying stuff and providing more shoppable content formats to merchants and influencers. Meanwhile, this deal also makes it easier for Shopify’s over 1 million merchants to reach TikTok’s millennial & Gen Z and drive sales

Baidu China Is Not A Search Engine Anymore

To be fair, Baidu search engine business is being run in a very different internet environment when we try comparing with Google and Bing etc global search engine, because information management is more strict under China Internet information legal policy. It’s not fair if you claim Baidu business model or product strategy has died. On the other hand, Baidu should be given a credit it can survive and be the top 1 of generic information search engine in China,when the search engine market competition is very very fierce. (Taobao/Tmall, OTA, Wechat social search engine etc). And Google extremely persists in its business model and product strategy, so it lost China domestic market in terms of search engine.

Business model is a combination of internal mechanisms (such as the type and usage of business resources that supporting business functions, processes) and extension of the company’s structure (such as channels and affiliated parties). The integration, causality of both mechanisms comprehensively can create very powerful effect on customers and competitors on the market.

Not Only Have Ambush Marketing for 四两拨千斤

I believe IOC does have the new rules against ambush marketing every 4 years and it must be stricter and stricter to protect the real investor benefit (Olympic sponsor), it’s fair and inevitable. However, I also believe one Chinese saying “你有张良计,我有过墙梯”, which means ambush marketing must also have 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 etc to survive, because of 2 key reasons in my opinion.
